Summer is turning endless or so it seems to Australians

Summer is turning endless or so it seems to Australians. A new report released by the Climate Commission of the Australian National University in Canberra describes just how endless the summer has become.

The Commission, "an independent and reliable source of information about the science of climate change, the international action being taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the economics of a carbon price", has now confirmed that the extreme heat and other weather events that occurred during the Australian summer were the result of climate change across the island continent. The reports major findings include:

 "the Australian summer over 2012 and 2013 has been defined by extreme weather events across much of the continent, including record-breaking heat, severe bushfires, extreme rainfall and damaging flooding; all weather, including extreme weather events is influenced by climate change; shows that climate change is already adversely affecting Australians; and, it is highly likely that extreme hot weather will become even more frequent and severe in Australia and around the globe, over the coming decades".

Will Steffen, one of the report's authors said: “Statistically, there is a 1-in-500 chance that we are talking about natural variation causing all these new records and not too many people would want to put their life savings on a 500-to-1 horse.”

Get ready for some seriously angry summers.
