The re-introduction of wolves into Yellowstone National Park created an ecological 'cascade' of effects. They changed the population structure of other wildlife species, new species re-appeared, and vegetation was altered. The rivers of the park were changed as well:

Imagine if the top predators are re-introduced to areas in other parts of the world where they are now missing and needing their own 'cascade' of ecological restoration.
