The Conservation Alliance (TCA), an organization representing manufacturers, retailers, and vendors within the $660B+ outdoor industry, has created a new initiative for local groups wishing to protect public landscapes in their state or region. The Fund has just been launched.

The goal of TCA's new Public Lands Defense Fund will be to:

Defend bedrock conservation laws (e.g., Wilderness Act, Antiquities Act, National Environmental Policy Act); Defend National Monument designations; and Oppose the transfer of federal lands to the states or to private hands.

In January 2017, TCA received initial commitments from two of its founding member companies, Patagonia and The North Face. Together, they pledged $100,000 annually to the Fund for each of the next 4-years. TCA will accept contributions to their public land's initiative from any company or individual who is interested in the land preservation. As with their existing member's dues, TCA will provide 100% of any contributions received directly to local conservation organizations via their ongoing bi-yearly grants program.

At a time when land conservation, wildlife protection, and outdoor recreation opportunities are needed locally and nationally, efforts to degrade legal protections need to be prevented. SWP Media recommends that you consider joining with Patagonia, The North Face, national fishing and hunting groups, Native Americans, and others in offering your individual support to the Alliance and their new initiative.

Your support is scalable, will be leveraged, and is important!
