When contributions are given to projects, particularly worthy environmental protection and conservation efforts, it is important to know how the money was used. It is far more important that limited financial resources are spent at the 'grass roots' level than for 'admin' purposes in an office.

The outdoor industry's non-profit organization, The Conservation Alliance, has just released an accounting of how expenditures for various Alliance projects was spent. Every dollar contriubted went directly to the field efforts of individual TCA partners. Besides the completed projects, five conservation victories were declared by the Alliance. These included the permanent protection for 1,823,423 acres of wildlands, 4 miles of free-running rivers, and a climbing area. The entire list of these project reports and the participating local partner is available here.

With government support for environmental protection under threat, individual support for conservation becomes ever more important. You can help with donations that count on-the-ground where it really matters.
