Ed Hawkins at the University of Reading in the UK represents 176 years of global temperature change in one chart from his Climate Lab book series of data visualizations. The color scale runs from approximately -2.5C to +2.5C. A high school student could explain the blue-red trend line in the measured temperatures.

The question has always been: what to do now?
