Fly-fishing is both a sport and art form. You are constantly trying to perfect a cast; or select just the correct fly to entice a trout, steelhead, or bonefish that requirs keen knowledge of locale, insects, and season; all while weather conditions add complicating layers of environmental challenge. But fishing on the clean, free-flowing, water necessary to sustain fish can be some of the best time spent anywhere.

American Rivers, the conservation advocacy organization produced a video on why maintaining and restoring river health should be important to anyone. The personal commentary shows why the great western writer Norman Maclean once said:

"I am haunted by waters."
