Poems for the Climate

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Saturday, November 21, 2015/Categories: sustainability, art and design, environment, climate change

The Guardian newspaper in the UK has initiated a bold environmental project called Keep It In The Ground to reduce fossil fuel use and support alternative energy development. Their goal is to spread ideas of hope to showcase how we can take control of reversing climate change and reduce carbon pollution. The paper will publish reports to highlight productive actions towards this noble goal such as more solar power generation.

The latest installment in the Keep it in the Ground series are poems focused on the climate and environment. Each poem in Our Melting, Shifting, Liquid World is read by actors including Jeremy Irons, James Franco, Kelly McDonald, and others. Here's a video example of Jeremy Irons reading, Turbines in January.:

They readings are powerfully presented and the Guardian itself is leading a creative environmental initiative that others should follow.
