Archaeology from Space

The anthropologist Sarah Parcak uses infrared and commercial space imagery to identify lost cities and other archaeological sites. She has conducted research in Romania, Tunisia, Egypt, and Italy where her satellite imagery identified an ancient arena at Portus, the lighthouse, and a canal leading to Rome along the Tiber River. Parcak was mentioned by The Next List  "of innovators, visionaries, and agents of change who are mapping the course to the future with their new ideas".
