Mickjaggerosaurus

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Friday, September 12, 2014/Categories: natural history, humor

You can't make the claim that researchers lack sense of humor or are devoid of music appreciation. A vegetarian dinosaur was just named after the famous rock star, Mick Jagger by scientists at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. The fossil of a swamp-dwelling vegetarian, who lived 19 million years ago in Africa, was named Jagger’s water nymph’ (Jaggermeryx naida) by paleontologists because of its huge lips.

The original fossil had been stored since 1918 in a museum until being discovered as a new dinosaur species. It remains a question if 'rock & rollers' might not be fossils themselves when they are still prancing and croaking songs while in their 70's.
