The natural world. Looking pretty for 3.5b years.

Auroras by Any Name

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Tuesday, June 24, 2014/Categories: natural history, art and design

Auroras come in all shapes, colors, and sizes---even on Saturn.

The Hubble telescope and Cassini orbiter captured a progression of auroras in ultra-violet light at Saturn's south pole. In a composite photograph produced from images captured over multiple days, near complete ring-like arouras were observed around the magnetic pole.
