The natural world. Looking pretty for 3.5b years.

Follow Tight

We know everyone has been asking Santa for their own personal robot and those cutting-edge engineers at DARPA have come up with some ideas of their own. It isn’t too pretty but it responds well.

Working with the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory and designers at Boston Dynamics, researchers supported by DARPA's LS3 robotics program demonstrated personal robot control, stability, and maneuverability around rough terrain and hazards. The lumbering bot looks like a big cow but understands ‘follow the leader’ decision making, roll-over recovery when it falls in a trench, knows how to put precise foot placement in rocky terrain, how to maneuver in an urban environment, and follows verbal commands. The Marines are interested.

Don’t expect Santa to bring it down your chimney anytime soon.
