A scientific data visualization provides a global perspective:

Artists and writers have drawn on the power of the oceans since the days of Homer. The contemporary muralist Ran Ortner creates large canvases that allow for meditation on the reality that 70% of Earth is covered by water. In a recent interview, he reflected on how the oceans provided inspiration for his paintings and their existential importance.

On World Oceans Day people celebrate our blue planet and honor the oceans that link us. What are you doing to participate and celebrate water today and every day?
