Chance of Ash

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Thursday, June 5, 2014/Categories: natural history, photography, environment

Your nightly weather report probably didn't include any forecasts of falling ash from volcanic explosions. However, in one part of the globe this was the big weather news.

The  Sangeang Api volcano  in the Flores Sea erupted in a dramatic explosion recently. The eruption sent ash into the stratosphere nearly 10 miles high. The ash drifted throghout the region shutting down airports from Indonesia to Australia. Eruptions continue.

Sangeang Api is not nearby but volcanic events like are impressive anywhere they happen.
