Earth Hour

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Saturday, March 29, 2014/Categories: Uncategorized, sustainability

Earth Hour is a global initiative to help people focus on environmental matters. Have you heard anything about it?

On Saturday March 29th at 8:30pm, millions of people across the world are switching off lights for one hour - to celebrate their commitment to the planet.
Projects are planned in over 150 countries and include "lights out for the reef" to support increased protection of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia; supporting a forest ranger's salary in Indonesia; helping to power an African village with solar power; and many more.

I'd like to think that a bit of mindfulness is never a bad idea with regards to appreciating environmental benefits. However, concrete actions seem the best way to accomplish a myriad of goals than just flicking off a light switch for an hour in rich countries. I hope I'm proved wrong.
