The natural world. Looking pretty for 3.5b years.

Dune Abstractions

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Friday, March 28, 2014/Categories: natural history, photography, art and design, environment

Sand dunes are beautiful no matter where they occur. The dramatic creations of blowing wind and moving sand have been the grist of desert legends, mystery novels, and SciFi films in everyone's imagination. As Mars comes under closer scrutiny by orbiting robots, dunes are being discovered in many myriad forms, shapes, and colors there as well.

JPL's HiRise camera captured a region of Martian sand dunes as the Sun was low above the horizon exposing only the crests to full sunlight.

The natural 'sandscape' wonders would make any abstract art designer envious.
