Midsummer Fires

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Tuesday, November 26, 2013/Categories: photography, environment

California's Sierra Nevada's and Yosemite National Park experienced the massive Rim Fire in mid-August. Smoke from the blaze polluted the air for weeks. With winter now setting into the high mountains, the extent of the fires is now visible in true-color from space and map.

Snow will blanket the entire landscape until Spring when melting will begin. Smoke fires is gone but sediment carried in run-off the burned landscape will remind us of the damage for a long time.
