Rolling Thunder

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Tuesday, September 10, 2013/Categories: natural history, photography, environment

You'd be excused for thinking the apocalypse was coming. A series of rare roll or Arcus clouds, formed in advance of a cold front as photographed near Racine, Wisconsin.

Roll clouds are separated from the other cloud structures and extend far into the distance as a storm approaches. I expect a good deal of "rolling thunder" would happen as well.
