Winter Night, Yosemite

Author: Guest Writer/Tuesday, December 25, 2012/Categories: Uncategorized

A dark night with the Milky Way over Yosemite Valley in California. Jupiter is the brightest object seen in the nightscape view. The wandering planet joins yellowish Aldebaran and the Hyades star cluster with Orion’s beautiful belt rising sideways over the Sierra Nevada mountains. Not bad for a seasonal impression.

If you’re anywhere near the mountains on a clear winter night, it’s never a bad idea to look upwards and check out the stars.
