According to NASA, their Curiosity rover captured its highest-resolution panorama yet of the Martian surface last year.

Two versions were created consisting of between 650 million and 1.8 billion pixels each. Both panoramas were produced from more than 1,000 separate images carefully stitched together. The rover's camera, Mastcam, used a telephoto lens to produce the Hi-Res versionn and its wide-angle lens to create a lower-resolution perspective that includes part of the the rover itself.
