Conservvation of coastal ocean ecosystems starts by listening to fishermen.

According to marine biologist Alasdair Harris, a fundamentally new approach to ocean conservation is needed. In a visionary talk, Harris lays out a surprising solution to the problem of overfishing that could revive marine life, and rebuild local fisheries, restore coral reefs, and all of this by taking less from the ocean. The key is empowering local fishermen in the management of the sustainable fishey resrouces.

"When we design it right, marine conservation reaps dividends that go far beyond protecting nature."
