Three perspectives for Earth Day 2019:

First, Tenzin Gyatso, HH the Dalai Lama wisely reminds us that:

Our overly materialistic lifestyles are wasteful and come at great environmental cost. If we don’t change our ‘advanced’ patterns of consumption, humanity's thirst for natural resources will be unsustainable. Over-exploitation of the natural environment is generating crises at local and global levels. Nations pursuing rapid economic growth must take the lead in finding new, more sustainable paths of development.

A powerful Earth Day suggestion would be to end plastic pollution and the Dalai Lama speaks to this existential goal.

Second, Google offers a doodle on biodiversity and conservation. A reminder of the threatened diversity of life on Earth:

while NASA shares technological resources available for Earth monitoring. The Agency gathers satellite and other data that improves our understanding of environmental processes. Individuals can get involved by using an online NASA web-page Earth Day 2019 inviting you to participate in an #PictureEarth social media event.

Every day should be an Earth Day and in actions large and small.
