Here is a 30-year birthday everyone should celebrate!

In 1989, four manufacturers in the, then new, outdoor recreation industry, Patagonia, REI, The North Face, and Kelty, decided to take action to help protect wild places. Each company provided start-up funding to a grant-making organization, invited their manufacturing peers to join them, and The Conservation Alliance was born.

Now nearly 30 years later, TCA is an international organization with more than 215 member companies. With donations provided by these businesses, the Alliance has been able to give grants totalling more than $20 million to grassroots conservation organizations working to protect wild landscapes including forests, rivers, deserts, mountains, and and marine zones for habitat, recreation, and other values. The Alliance has shown what is possible when an industry comes together and tries to make a positive difference for the environment. In these preceeding years, Alliance funding has helped conserve more than:

51 million acres of wildlands; 3,102 miles of rivers; stop or remove 30 dams; designate 5 marine reserves; & purchase 13 climbing areas for recreation.

Such accomplishments are certainly worthy of a celebration.

While you may not be a North Face or Patagonia, individual donations go directly into the same granting-making account that supports all The Conservation Alliance projects. None goes to administration which is handled separately from donations. Consider showing your support for the work of The Conservation Alliance, here
