March 14th represents a milestone day for two giants from the world of science. Albert Einstien was born on this day in 1879 while Stephen Hawking passed away today, 2018. The scientific findings of Hawking and Einstein permanently changed our understanding of the universe. The depth of their accomplishments in uncovering the mathematics, physics, and cosmology of space and time are hard to fathom. Among the cornerstones include: the determination to the universal constant for the speed of light, General Relativity; the existence of black holes and singularities; and most recently the monumental discovery of gravitational waves predicted 100 years ago.

While reams of tributes have been given to them both, their own words express the values of curiosity, investigation, and discovery best. Stephen Hawking: We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.
