The recent National Weather Service animation on 'storm surges' omitted one environmental situation in their otherwise important discussion. What happens when a hurricane acts like a tsunami? Tourists visiting Long Island in the Bahamas woke up to see a dry sea bed where the day before had been the ocean. The seafloor had been sucked dry by Hurricane Irma which they shared to YouTube.

Tsunamis work in a similar fashion and then return as a 'wall of water' when huge waves surge back onto the beach. It wouldn't be very smart for these guys to be standing on the flats when the the waves rush back into the bay.
