If you were able to hitch a ride on a beam of photons moving at the speed of light, how would things appear? They would likely move slower than you think. Planets and other space objects would definitley not look like the common depiction in SciFi movies in a 'jump to light speed' scene appears. A crafted animation gives a proper impression of the vast distances involved even within our own solar system:
