In a first continent scale study, NASA researchers used 30 years of Landsat satellite data to map and track changes to Arctic vegetation in Alaska and Canada. Covering more than 4 million square miles, 30 percent of the high Arctic vegetation showed increases (greening) compared to 3 percent showing decreases in coverage (browning). Jeffrey Masek, the lead NASA scientist at the Goddard Space Center commented:

"It shows the climate impact on vegetation in the high latitudes".

Plants are very sensitive in their environments so they become excellent predictors of changes in temperature, moisture, or atmospheric chemistry. Expect the Arctic to become every more green.
