MERU, short-listed

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Thursday, December 3, 2015/Categories: video, art and design, adventure

Riled Up has followed the adventure documentary, MERU, since the film's sold-out premieres at both Sundance and MountainFilm earlier this year. The movie chronicles the epic adventure of Conrad Anker, a Riled Up contributor, and his mountaineering partners Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk as they attempt to climb the "unclimbable" Himalayan peak, Mount Meru, the Shark's Fin. We published a conversation with Jimmy Chin just prior to the film's release in mid-August.

It was just announced by the the Oscars that MERU was one of the 15 semi-finalists selected to be considering for an Academy Award nomination. The complete list showcases many fine documentary films that were produced in 2015 and we're watching closely to see if MERU makes the next cut for a nomination on the road to the Academy Awards ceremony next February in Los Angeles.
