10 Earth Day Ideas...good any day!

Today is Earth Day. We hope you are paying attention wherever you live.

Here are 10 ideas anyone can practically implement in their lives if they choose to do so.

1. change out old light bulbs and replace with energy efficient new ones;
2. take kids walking in a natural environment and point out components of the landscape;
3. offer some time or money to an environmental group working to make positive change;
4. attend a presentation by a university researcher on an environmental science topic;
5. ask if your TV or radio station's weather presenter discusses climate change analyses;
6. take a class in geology, the oceans, ecology, or botany and learn more about the world;
7. recycle your vegetable wastes into compost and improve the soil in your garden;
8. participate in a project trying to restore a damaged landscape or river;
9. ask vendors at a farmers market how they produce organic products and buy them;
10. plant a tree and watch it grow while producing shade, beauty, and air-conditioning.
