Super-smart Bird

Author: Hugh Bollinger/Friday, February 21, 2014/Categories: natural history, video, birds

Animal behavior is one of the most exciting areas of animal research. Whales, dolphins, elephants, and bonobo chimpanzees demonstrate the ability at self-awareness , or the ability to recognize themselves in a mirror. Until recently, this capability was considered only inately human. New measures are being developed to determine the level of intellectual capabilities in a wider and wider array of animals including birds like  the crow .

Here's a video of an amazing avian puzzle solver courtesy of the  BBC that might create a new appreciation for the critters in your own backyard:

Perhaps these animals could teach a bit about intelligence to some current politicians.
