Curiosity rolls toward a mountain on Mars

Could life have existed on Mars? The amazing Curiosity rover that landed last year is trying to find out. The mechanical laboratory continues rolling toward a large Martian mountain while sampling soil and rocks along the way. So far, only hints of past life-supporting chemistry.

Curiosity is accomplishing these tasks this using six mechanical wheels---like a strange dune-buggy contraption---and is scheduled to climb the Mount Sharp seen in the distance. An unusual photographic perspective captures both.
