Avenue of Giants

Author: Guest Writer/Saturday, June 23, 2012/Categories: Uncategorized

The Avenue of Giants is a term most commonly associated with a drive among the majestic redwoods of northern California. However, far removed from that coastal region is another forest could carry a similar designation. In the remote southwestern corner of Australia exist forests consisting of a massive and similarly ancient Eucalyptus trees known as karriEucalyptus diversicolor  They are the giants of their cool landscape.

Evolution is very conservative and repeats itself when a growth form works under similar environment. The redwoods evolved in the foggy and moist climate of northern California. On the opposite side of the planet, species of gum trees evolved and attained similar gigantic heights in their cool forests. A drive through any ‘avenue of giants’ is inspiring no matter where the massive trees occur.
